This design was inspired by my sister, Betsy Coble, Cardthartic’s Creative Coordinator, who works with our contributing photographers to ensure we always have great images in our lines. In the winter of ‘09, Betsy watched helplessly as the love of her life, Wayne Kitchen, collapsed of heart failure and passed away in her arms. As if continuing on is not hard enough while mourning such an immense loss, Betsy has peripheral neuropathy, the very painful deterioration of nerve function in her hands and feet that affects 20 million people in the US alone. There is effectively no treatment, and the potent drugs used to relieve the numbness and pain in her hands and feet take a huge mental, physical and emotional toll. And yet there she is at it most days, relishing her active role in the business. This was written for Betsy, and the so-many others who ~ I’ll never know how ~ just keep on!.
