Photographer Randy Wells caught this fairy tern in flight toward Lady Musgrave Island, one of the 900 islands that compose the Great Barrier Reef off Australia. The message was written in 2002 by my niece, Tracie Mitchell, who was working for Cardthartic at that time. As printed on the card back, she dedicated her message, "To Paul, for all of them."

This card quotes Randy Moore, a man who clearly adores his wife Gay. Married 50 years now, the founder of our printing company was driving me to lunch one day, talking about redecorating their home. With a sudden,"Hey!" he turned down a beautiful old tree-lined street, "where my high school sweetheart and I used to park and talk and dream of the home we'd have one day." I asked Randy what he might write in an anniversary card to Gay, and this is exactly what he had to say.

I wrote this message for my sister, Amy, and her husband, John. The song, "We Don't Know What We've Got 'Til it's Gone" may have been written for them, too. They divorced and, in less than three months, were right back where they were meant to be. Almost 20 contented years ago now. (Some day we'll publish a card quoting an old friend, "We always learn the hard way what the easy way was!"
